1. Back Ups - To create copies of the original. Back ups are done regularly. They are used in case of damage or corruption of the original.They are stored away from the original usually in a fire proof safe.

   • Firewalls-these are used to prevent malware . They are installed o a computer and can track what coming in and out. They scan files to detect malware . However firewalls need to be kept up to date to be sure they can detect the latest malware.

2. Archives-They are the storage/moving of files that are no longer in current use. However they kept for future reference. They are done to free up space for new files.

   • Encryption- this is used to make data unreadable to people who don't have the key to decode the message. this is mostly used to protect data transmitted over the internet.
   • User name- These are used to recognise the person who is trying to log onto the computer the identification of someone .

3. Virus-A virus is a programming code that replicates its self and destroys data.

   • Passwords-These are used to protect your data so that no one else can access your private data.

4. Malware- This is malicious software . This comes in many forms; Viruses, Worm Viruses, Trojan Viruses, Key logging and Spyware .

5. Key logging-this is used by hackers to gain knowledge of passwords by recording the keys pressed on the users computer.

6. Hacking- the practice of breaking into secure computer systems.
