    The nobles/patricians   - rich people   - often got less severe punishments than plebians and slaves. The plebians   - middle class citizens    - were not treated as harshly as slavesThe slaves    - were not citizens    - belonged to master (usually the nobles)    - runaway slaves executed    -executed for most crimes even minor crimes
