| Formula | Performs calculations using numbers, cell references and mathematical operators. |
| Function | a standard routine to perform common tasks. A complex formula which uses reserved words. |
| Absoloute cell reference | When a formula is copied from one cell to another there may be a need to maintain an absolute reference with the original cells |
| Relative Cell reference | when a formula is copied / replicated into another cell the cell references change with it. |
