Explain how the muscular skeletal and nervous system work together during plyometric exercises
Map content
Explain how the muscular skeletal and nervous system work together during plyometric exercises
What is plyometric training?
- Exercises in which muscles exert maximum force in short intervals of time, with the goal of increasing power
- uses eccentric and concentric contractions
How is the stretch reflex involved
- Stretch reflex is a muscle contraction in response to stretching within the muscle. It provides automatic regulation of skeletal muscle length
How is the nervous system incorporated
- Motor Unit
- Muscle fibres are grouped into motor units. This consists of a motor neurone and its muscle fibres.
- Works with the nervous system so that a contraction can occur.
- Motor Neurones
- Nerve cells which transmit the brain’s instructions as electrical impulses to the muscles
- Muscle fibres are grouped into motor units. This consists of a motor neurone and its muscle fibres.
- Motor Unit
Three phases.
- Eccentric phase
- Amortization phase
- Concentric Phase
