Mind map: DNA replication

Map content

DNA Replication

  1. DNA Replication commences at the Origin and is semi-conservative.

    • 1. DNA Helicase unwinds the DNA strand at the replication fork.
      • 2. DNA Primase (RNA primer) creates a primer on the leading and lagging strands.
        • 3. DNA Polymerase III adds free nucleotides to the leading and lagging strand
          • 4. On the lagging strand Okazaki fragments are produced. DNA Polymerase I exerts exonuclease activity on the Okazaki fragments and removes the primer
            • 5. DNA Ligase seals the nick between the fragments on the lagging strand.
    • OriC in prokaryotes
