1. Algorithms

   • response.json() - .json() Used in order to parse to an understandable language
   • if details_response.status_code == 200: - This status code returns if the request is okay
   • return render_template('character.html', characters=characters) - Renders the characters template after getting an appended array of characters
   • characters.append(character_data) - Append character data to array of characters
   • for page in range(1,10): - Searches through the API data from the first 10 pages to retrieve characters.
     • response = requests.get(f"https://www.swapi.tech/api/people?page={page}&limit=10") - Retrieve API data, getting the People Resource

2. Developer Environment

   • Backend
     • Python
       • Python Flask module allows the combining of CSS, HTML and JSON in order to create a web application
       • requests package to make HTTP request to SWAPI
       • Parses JSON data (using .json())
     • JavaScript used for real time filtering.
   • Frontend
     • HTML to give structure and content to the webpage (as well as displaying JSON text).
     • CSS to style the webpages in accordance with Star Wars theme.

3. Criteria

   • Prescribed Criteria
     • PSC 1 - Display API data in a table format
       • Use HTML to create table with th, td, tr tags etc
     • PSC 2 - Have an algorithm to retrieve, process and display data from the Star Wars API.
       • Python JSON parsing
       • HTML displaying results
     • PSC 3 - Be efficient, modular and have accurate code.
       • Testing table.
       • Have code comments (CSS / * * /, Python #, HTML <!-- -->
       • Use of HTTP status codes to check for errors
     • PSC 4 - Receive data in one format and programmatically transform it into another format for sharing/displaying.
       • Python to Parse JSON
         • Python to combine HTML and CSS using Flask
           • HTML to display JSON readable text
   • Self-Determined Criteria
     • SDC 1 - Create an alphabetical filter (based on Max Power)
       • Requires HTML select filter for a dropdown tag.
       • JavaScript used for more efficiency.
     • SDC 2 - Adhere to a Star Wars theme (both user personas)
       • Requires CSS styling
       • HTML images

4. User Personas

   • • Adhering to Max Power's needs also covers Jennifer Taylor, with the addition of an alphabetical filter for self-determined criteria.
