  1. REVOLUTIONARY INVENTIONS

    • Eli Witney's inventions
      • Eli Witney built the first WATER MILL to power the Mechanical Spinning Loom
      • Cotton Gin created took the seeds out of cotton
        • This made it so the slaves did not have to pick the seeds out of the cotton
          • A team of slaves could only pick 1 pound of cotton a week.
          • The cotton plant would cut the hands of those who picked it.
      • Eli Whitney did not know that it would increase the Slave industry.
        • The slave owners would buy the Cotton Gin and purchase more slaves to run it so they could produce more cotton, therefore making more money.
    • Samuel Slater's blueprints of the Mechanical Spinning Loom from Europe
      • Samuel Slater dressed as a farmer to get to America in order to sneak the blueprints over to America.
    • Francis Lowell and the Spinning Loom
      • Invented the Factory System
        • The factory System is where there are many different machines in one big warehouse.
          • The factories were dangerous because people had to move between the machines without regard to safety.
