About Quality Management Systems and ISO Standards

GoConqr Original

What this unit covers

Most of the page is about ISO 9001. The mind maps follow the standard clause by clause: organisational context, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement. There are also maps on risk based thinking, the process approach and ISO 9001:2015 Management Review. Older material, such as the map on BS EN ISO 9001:2008 Section 4 Quality System Requirements, lets you compare editions.

Beyond ISO 9001

The unit also reaches other standards and tools. You will find AS9100D, notes on AS 9100C in layman terms, a note on ts 16949, APQP Characteristics and a flowchart on FMEA. The quiz on ISO 17025 asks what the standard is divided into and what the Quality Manager does. Audit maps include Facility Audit, IT Audit Program and Computer-based information systems audit.

Where to start

  1. Open one of the ISO 9001 maps, such as ISO 9001 Made Easy, to see the overall shape.
  2. Read the Management Responsability map to see what clause 5 asks of leaders.
  3. Look at the flowchart that diagnoses a company against the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.
  4. Move on to risk, audit and sector standards once the core clauses feel familiar.

Using quizzes and maps together

Read a map first, then test yourself. The quiz on ISO 17025 suits that approach, and so does the initial training assessment for employees on quality management systems. Wrong answers show which clause to revisit. The flashcard deck called ISO 9001 vocabulary helps with the terms. Teachers can use the maps as ready-made handouts or discussion starters.

Where it sits

This unit belongs to the Quality Engineering and Management strand of Industrial engineering and quality. Pick a map that matches what you are studying and try its quiz next.

Frequently asked questions

Which resource should I open first?

Try one of the ISO 9001 mind maps, such as ISO 9001 Made Easy, to see the clauses laid out in one view. Then open the flowchart on diagnosing a company against ISO 9001:2015 to see how the requirements are applied in practice.

What do the mind maps cover?

Most follow ISO 9001, covering context, leadership, planning, support, operation, evaluation and improvement. Others cover risk based thinking, the process approach, management review, AS9100D, APQP, certification and audits, including facility and IT audits.

Is there a quiz on ISO 17025?

Yes. The quiz called SO YOU THINK YOU KNOW ISO 17025? asks how the standard is divided, what its broad requirements are and what the Quality Manager's role involves. A second quiz works as an initial training assessment for employees on quality management systems.

Who are these resources for?

They suit university students and professional candidates studying quality systems, and teachers who want ready-made material. Most are at professional or university level. The resources were made by GoConqr users, not by GoConqr itself.

Are the resources free?

Yes. Every resource listed here is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. A free account also saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own quizzes, mind maps, flashcards and notes.

What if I can't find the standard I need?

Check the related maps first, since AS9100D, ts 16949 and APQP are covered alongside ISO 9001. If your topic is missing, you can make your own mind map or flashcards and build the material you need.
