About Maintenance and Reliability
GoConqr OriginalWhat the page covers
The resources sit in two broad camps: how maintenance is organised, and the reliability maths behind it. On the organising side, the Planned Maintenance Dept map breaks a department into strategy, resources, systems, roles and KPAs. The Planner map covers arranging tools, materials and manpower, plus KPIs and service levels. Task Analysis walks through raising a work order and scheduling resources.
Reliability and failure
For the quantitative side, the notes on the constant failure rate model cover Weibull, gamma, lognormal and extreme value distributions. Another map covers system structure functions, minimal cuts and minimal paths. The MTBF / MTTF / MTTR map sets out definitions and how reliability differs from availability. There is also a separate Weibull map.
Strategies and methods
- Predictive Maintenance - Overview looks at sensors, historians, analytics and diagnostic tools such as spectrum analysis.
- OEE and TPM is a flashcard deck on availability, performance, quality and downtime losses.
- Asset Management is a flashcard deck on key elements and the features of an asset management system.
- A chemical manufacturing case study maps out a total productive maintenance model.
A sensible order
- Start with Types of Maintenance and PURPOSE OF MAINTENANCE for the big picture.
- Move to MTBF / MTTF / MTTR and RELIABILITY for the key measures.
- Read the Weibull and failure rate maps when you are ready for the distributions.
- Finish with predictive maintenance, TPM and the flashcards on OEE.
Using quizzes with maps
Take RCM quiz or Quiz PM 2 before you read a map, and note what you missed. Then open the matching map and look for those gaps. Retake the quiz a few days later. Teachers can set a map as pre-reading and use a quiz as a quick check.
This page belongs to the Production and Manufacturing Systems strand of Industrial engineering and quality. Pick a map that matches your next topic and start there.
Frequently asked questions
Which resource should I open first?
Start with the maps on Types of Maintenance or PURPOSE OF MAINTENANCE if the topic is new to you. They give the overall picture before you meet failure rates, Weibull models or predictive tools. Then try RCM quiz to see what stuck.
What do the mind maps cover?
They range from how a planned maintenance department is run, including roles, KPAs and work orders, to reliability topics such as MTBF, MTTF, MTTR, Weibull and minimal cuts and paths. Others cover TPM, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
Are there flashcards for revising key terms?
Yes. The OEE and TPM deck asks what availability, performance and quality mean and where losses appear. The Asset Management deck covers key elements and the features of an asset management system. Other decks include one on the Principles of Quality Maintenance Program.
Who are these resources suited to?
They suit university students and professional candidates, who make up most of the listed material, as well as teachers looking for ready-made maps and quizzes. The content is applied, with case studies and planning tools alongside theory.
Are the resources free, and who made them?
Every resource listed here is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. They were made by GoConqr users, not by GoConqr. A free account also saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own quizzes, maps, flashcards and notes.
What if the topic I need is missing?
Look through the maps with similar names, as several cover overlapping ground, such as the different TPM and Types of maintenance maps. If nothing fits, you can build your own map or flashcard deck for the gap.
