ECOSYSTEMS

• An ecosystem is the set of organisms that share the same environment, the physical and chemical conditions of this space, and the interactions these organisms have among themselves and with the lifeless elements in this space.
• The physical and chemical conditions of that space will determine the living organisms that can live in it. These conditions are called abiotic factors.
• Likewise, living organisms interacting with one another also condition one another. As such, organisms are called the biotic factors of the eco- system.
• The living organisms of an ecosys- tem form populations and communities:
• A population is made up of all the organisms of the same spe cies that live in an ecosystem. An ecosystem includes populations of various species.
• A community is made up of all the populations that live to gether in an ecosystem. A community includes organisms of all the populations in the ecosystem
