Question Answer
Autonomic Involuntarily/unconsciously; Network of nerves that controls the body's unconscious processes.
Autonomic Nervous System The autonomic nervous system controls ALL "automatic' body functions UNCONSCIOUSLY (except for the skeletal muscles), such as the heart rate, digestion, respiratory rate, pupillary response, urination, and sexual arousal. It has two MAIN divisions, those being the sympathetic nervous system (NS) and the parasympathetic NS. Example: "people can choose to hold their breath or swallow rapidly. When people do not actively choose to control these functions, however, the autonomic nervous system takes over and controls them."
