It contains icons that denote a program, for example, the internet could be represented by an image and clicking on the image would launch the internet. | Using examples, describe the difference between hardware and software | Hardware is the physical components of the computer that can be seen, touched and moved, for example a monitor or a mouse. Software is applications and programs that aid in the general running of the computer, such as a word processing program |
| Describe two problems that could be caused by a lack of standardisation | One problem that could be caused could be the cost of new equipment that would have to be bought in order to bridge the gap between the two standards of computers. There would also be limited or no communication between the devices which would lead to incorrect data being passed |
| Describe two items of specialist software used by an employee who does not have the use of their arms | A puff and suck switch will allow the user to move the mouse around and allow them to click as opposed to using a mouse. They could also use a microphone in order to input text into the computer system |

A screen magnifier could also be used in order or them to see sections of the screen more clearly |
