Cards in this deck (19)
- 1What statistical test would you do if you had nominal data and did an independent measures design?Chi squared Test
- 2What statistical test would you do if you had ordinal data and carried out an independent measures design experiment?Mann Whitney U Test
- 3What statistical test would you do if you had interval/ratio data and carried out an independent measures design experiment?Unrelated T-Test
- 4What statistical test would you do if you had nominal data and carried out a repeated measures design experiment?Sign Test
- 5What statistical test would you do if you had ordinal data and had carried out a repeated measures design experiment?Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test
- 6What statistical test would you do if you had interval/ratio data and had carried out a repeated measures design experiment?Related T-Test
- 7What statistical test would you do if you had nominal data and carried out a test of correlation?Chi Squared Test
- 8What statistical test would you do if you had ordinal data and had carried out a test of correlation?Spearman's Rho Correlation
- 9What statistical test would you do if you had interval/ratio data and had carried out a test of correlation?Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient
- 10What is nominal data?Nominal data is data that can be converted into categories e.g. male or female
- 11What is ordinal data?Essentially a ranking system in which data can be ordered
- 12What is interval/ratio data?Similar to ordinal data, except that they also include scores as well as a ranking system
- 13Why do psychologists commonly use the 5% significance level? The 5% level acts as a medium between being too harsh with your results and being too lenient with them. Therefore it reduces the risk of a type 1 or type 2 error being made
- 14What is a Repeated Measures Experimental Design?Repeated measures design uses the same subjects with every branch of research, including the control.
e.g all participants do condition A and then all participants do condition B - 15What is an Independent Measures Design? An independent measures design is a type of method used during a psychology experiment that involves two or more separate groups, each containing different individuals, where each participant only takes part in each condition once.
- 16What is Matched Pairs Experimental Design?Participants are split into two groups, but in the other group, there will be a person similar to yourself
- 17Why would you use a matched pairs design? It helps you identify whether any change in the DV is because of a change in the IV or because of participant variables.
- 18What is the IV?This is the variable that is manipulated
- 19What is the DV?This is the variable that you measure
