Daisy Westwood Psychology AS level English

Flowchart content

  1. Interference theory = we forget info in our LTM because it is disrupted and this leads to inaccurate recall

  2. Proactive = old info prevents us remembering new

Retroactive = new info prevents us remembering old

  3. Underwood and postman

    - Divided participants into group A and B

    - A had to learn two lists

    - B only learnt one list of words

    - B had more accurate recall

  4. Baddeley and Hitch

    - Asked rugby players to remember the names of people they had played that season, most missed some out, it was not important the time it had been since the match but on how many games the player had played

  5. Loess

    - Gave lists of 3 words from a particular category, given interference task then asked to recall

    - repeated 6 time

    - Recall was best on first list
