   • control slave components, higher level processing such as decision making/reasoning
   • little capacity, temporary store

2. EPISODIC BUFFER

   • code across slave components, integrate info
   • 3-4 chunks of info capacity
   • 2 way communication with LTM

3. VSSP

   • 3-4 objects, visualising mental pictures
   • INNER SCRIBE:
     • spatial relations
   • VISUAL CACHE:
     • form and colour

4. PHONOLOGICAL LOOP

   • PRIMARY ACCOUSTIC STORE:
     • speech perception, hold info for 1-2 seconds, remember info in order it was presented
   • ARTICULATORY PROCESS:
     • speech production, rehearsal of info = no decay

5. BADDELEY + HITCH

   • different tasks in different stores does not impair ability, same + same does lead to impairment
     • support seperate stores + activity in same store exceeds capacity

   • PET SCANS
   • occipital lobe = visual processes
     • Broca's area = speech perception
