Purpose of the Music Video

1. Extension of income

   • The video can be posted onto YouTube and played on music channels such as 4music, Capital TV, MTV music etc.
     • The more views the video gets the better it is for the artist as the video can be monetized and they can generate a revenue from YouTube placing adverts onto their video. Music channels have to acquire permission and pay the artist in order to play their music video and this gives the artist a lot of revenue.

   • In some music videos the artist or band members are included and this can be used to create a brand. This may lead to the target audience buying into the brand. As well as that music videos allow the artists to create an image of themselves. An example of an artist that has created an image for herself is Miley Cyrus.
