Top tips: Unit 1 question, you will need to give at least three developed statements.

Ideas initial $17 billion were declined by congress. President Tito declined Stalin's control so Yugoslavia stayed independent and communist. Truman paid for British troops to stay and help the royalists in Greece

Answer: The key features of the Marshall plan was firstly that Truman paid the British troops to stay and help fight the communist in Greece as they wanted Stalin to have power of the monarchy. This would help contain communism from spreading outside of the Iron curtain and outside of the USSR Sphere of Influence. Secondly Truman saw poverty and hardship as a road into communism so to help stop the spread of communism Truman pledge to the U.S congress $17 billion to help any country that was under threat of communism rule. Finally; as Truman was pledging the marshal aid, Stalin grew suspicious of the Marshal aid and he thought that this would weaken his sphere of influence so strengthened his power over his communist countries to the annoyance of president Tito who later stated independence from Moscow but stayed Communist.
