Graphs

Cards in this deck (8)
- 1What do histograms show?Distribution of data
They help us to visualise our data to see if the normality distributions is correct - 2What can be used as an alternative to a histogram?Density plots
- 3What does a box plot show?5 number summaries:
- Line in the middle = median
- Outer lines = first & third quartiles (25% & 75% of the data)
- Tails extending from the box = shows 99% CI
- Odd points outside of the box = outliers
- 4What do bar graphs show?Means & mean differences
- Top of the bar = the mean, NOT the frequencies
- Each mean should have error bars (SE or 95% CI) - 5Which graph is best to show within-subject data/variable changes?Line graphs
- 6When should you use a scatterplot? When you have two continuous variables
- 7What does one dot on a scatterplot represent? One single participant
- 8What graphs/plots can be used as alternatives to bar graphs?- Violin plots
- Strip plots
