START
Quartering the sample by using sample splitter.
Weight 3kg of coarse aggregate.
Dry the sample using furnace and cool it down.
Agitate the sample by placing in a mechanical shaker.
Determine the weight of each size increment by weighing the residue contained on each sieve.
Cumulative weight passing through each sieve is calculated as a percentage of the total sample weight.
Fineness modulus is calculated.
