Polymers are materials that have large molecules. they are made by joining together to thousands of smaller molecules called monomers
Examples of polymers: Plastic bags (polyethene), rope, underground water pipes, food containers, (polypropene)
Polymers do NOT have double carbon-carbon bonds
Designer polymers
- There are two different types of polyethene, High density polyethene (HDPE) and Low density polyethene (LDPE)
- Hydrogels
- They made of polymers such as poly(sodium propenoate)
- Shape memory polymers
- Water proof fabrics
Polyethene is made by joining together thousands of ethene molecules
