Organelles
Nucleas
- Contains all the genetic information of the cell
- Has a nuclear envelope (double lipid bilyer) which contains nuclear pores allowing certain substances to pass
- Site of DNA and RNA sythesis
Nucleolus
- Makes ribosomal subunits from rRNA and proteins
- Makes Ribosomes
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
- Involved in the providing a surface for ribosomes to attach and produce proteins, then the transport of proteins produced
- Continuous with the nuclear envelope
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
- Involved in the sythesis and transport of lipids
- Stores Ca ions
Golgi Apparatus
- Made up of flattened sacs called cisternae
- Further processes proteins and lipids from ER
- Two sides - cis golgi (entrance), Trans golgi (exit)
Lysosomes
- Small vesicle containing digestive enzymes
- Used to break down pathogen
Mitochondria
- Double Membrane
- Involved in ATP sythesis
