Describe the structure of ATP and the phosphorylation.

ATP is also known as Adinose Triphonsphate. The structure of ATP contains, one Adenine molecule, a pentose sugar: ribose and three phosphate groups. The bond between the phosphate groups is hydrolysed, producing high amount of energy.

ATP -> ADP + Pi (-32kJ mol-1)

ADP -> AMP + PPi (-45 KJ mol-1)

Give an example of ATP at work.

ATP is required in the moment of Ca2+ across a membrane, via Ca2+ pump. When 2 Ca2+ ions bind to the pump, ATP binding site is activated. ATP is hydrolysed, producing ADP and Pi, which binds to the ATP binding site, leasing to the transport of the 2 Ca2+ ion across the membrane.

What are the 6 classifications of Enzymes

Enzymes are classified according to their functions. There are six classifications.

One Tree Hill Long I Shall Live

1. Oxidoreductase - transfer of electron (Oxidation or reductions)

2. Transferases - transfer of phophoryl group from ATP to another molecule

3. Hydrolyses - transfer of functional group to water

4. Lyases - Direct bond breaking reaction, without reactant

5. Isomerases - transfer of a group internally within molecule

6. Ligases and Synthetases - Bond formation
