About descriptive statistics notes
GoConqr OriginalUsing Descriptive Statistics notes
Start with Information Processing if you want to review qualitative data and frequencies. Its notes introduce categorical data before you move on to numerical summaries.
For a closer look at the centre of a data set, read Module 2 Notes, which discusses the median. Measures of Dispersion covers the range, variance and standard deviation. The notes called Z scores look at individual scores within a group.
Make the notes work for you
Read a short section, then cover it and explain the idea in your own words. For charts and frequency tables, use STAT Chapter 2 What To Know to identify what you need to practise.
If you want a visual overview, switch to a mind map on the unit page. When you are ready to check your understanding, try a related quiz there. Choose a topic and work through it at your own pace.
Frequently asked questions
Which note is a good place to start?
Start with Information Processing if you want to review qualitative data and frequencies. If you are focusing on the median instead, Module 2 Notes is a useful starting point. Both let you begin with a specific topic before moving to another note on the page.
What topics do these notes cover?
The notes cover qualitative and quantitative data, measures of central location, dispersion, charts and Z scores. For example, Measures of Dispersion lists the range, variance and standard deviation, while STAT Chapter 2 What To Know includes frequency tables, bar charts and pie charts.
Are the notes free to use?
Yes. Every note listed here is free to open and study without an account. The resources were made by GoConqr users. A free account also lets you save quiz scores and make your own quizzes, mind maps, flashcards and notes.
