Speaking and Presentations mind maps

These maps give you different ways into the unit. Spontaneous conversation groups features such as fillers, repetition and simultaneous speech. Talk in Life & Literature covers turn taking, topic management and pauses. For presentation practice, Handling Q&A Session includes asking for clarification and dealing with interruptions.

Choose a map and follow its branches

Start with Spontaneous conversation if you want to recognise features of everyday talk. Follow a branch, then try to explain the feature in your own words. For a presentation, use Handling Q&A Session to prepare a response to a question or interruption.

Once you have explored a map, switch to a quiz on the unit page to check your recall, or use flashcards for further speaking practice. Come back to the map when you want to see how the ideas fit together. Try a map that matches what you are working on.
