About The Quran: Study, Tafsir and Recitation

GoConqr Original

What this unit covers

The page has three strands of material. The first is surah-by-surah study. Quizzes such as Surah al-Naba Quiz and Surah al-Alaq Quiz ask about word meanings, root letters and the message of each passage. The second is tafseer in sequence, including the weekly tests on Surah Al Insaan, Surah Mursalat and Surah Al Ma'arij, and the Fahm al-Qur'an quizzes by juz'. The third is recitation and background, with mind maps on tajweed, Tafkheem and Tarqeeq, and the transmission and preservation of the Qur'an.

Where to start

  1. Begin with a short surah quiz, such as Surah al-Falaq & Surah al-Naas Quiz. It shows quickly how much vocabulary and meaning you already hold.
  2. Move to a longer passage, for example Surah Yusuf Ayah 1 - 5, where questions turn to the purpose of Qur'anic stories.
  3. Work through the Fahm al-Qur'an quizzes in juz' order, or follow the weekly tafseer tests one surah at a time.

Using quizzes and maps together

Take a quiz first and note which questions you missed. Then open a matching map. Surah Al kahf and SURAH YUSUF set out their passages visually, and Al-Mulk (The Sovereignty) explains the root meaning of its key names. Return to the quiz afterwards and see what has stuck. For recitation, read the tajweed maps before you practise aloud.

Who it suits

Most resources are general in level, with a share aimed at university study. University students can use the maps on transmission, preservation and the authority of the Qur'an. Teachers can set a weekly tafseer test or share a map with a class. School students may find the short surah quizzes a gentle way in.

Where it sits

This unit belongs to the Islam strand of Religion and theology. Choose one surah today, try its quiz, and then make a few flashcards of your own.

Frequently asked questions

Which quiz should I try first?

Try Surah al-Naba Quiz or Surah al-Alaq Quiz. Both are short and ask about meanings, root letters and the main focus of the last juz'. They show quickly which vocabulary you know and which you need to revisit before moving to longer passages.

What do the mind maps cover?

The maps fall into two groups. Some follow a surah, such as Surah Al kahf, SURAH YUSUF and Al-Mulk (The Sovereignty). Others cover recitation and background, including tajweed rules, Tafkheem and Tarqeeq, Meem rules, and the transmission and preservation of the Qur'an.

Are the resources free to use?

Yes. Every resource listed here is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. They were made by GoConqr users, not by GoConqr itself. A free account also saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own quizzes, maps, flashcards and notes.

Is there tafseer material by passage?

Yes. There are weekly tafseer tests on surahs such as Al Insaan, Mursalat, Al Ma'arij and Abasa, plus tafseer quizzes on set ayah ranges of Surah al-Kahf and Surah Yaseen. The Fahm al-Qur'an quizzes follow the Qur'an by juz' and part.

Who are these resources for?

They suit university students most, along with teachers who want ready-made quizzes and maps for a class. School students can dip into the shorter surah quizzes. The level of most resources is general, so you can start where you feel comfortable.

What if I can't find the surah I need?

Browse the quizzes by juz' or weekly test title first, as many surahs sit inside a larger quiz. If it is still missing, you can build your own quiz, map or flashcards on that surah using a free account.
