About Old Testament

GoConqr Original

What you will find

The unit sits in the Bible strand of Religion and theology. It follows the Old Testament story from beginning to end. Several mind maps titled Old Testament lay out the big events in order: Creation, the Fall, the Flood, the blessings of Abraham, Jacob and his family, the Exodus, the civil war and the Exile. The Torah Flowchart shows how Genesis leads to the Exodus and then to Sinai, where the law was received.

Where to start

Begin with a map to get the outline. The Bible Mind Map and the Old Testament maps cover the sweep from Creation to Exile. Then read the Torah Flowchart for the first books. If you want a single deck of key figures, Saul, Samuel, David, Solomon has terms such as the Davidic Monarchy, the House of Eli and the Queen of Sheba.

Quizzes that follow the story

Several quizzes follow the storyline in stages. The conquest and Judges era has its own quiz, and the Kingdom and Exile era follows with fill-in-the-blank summaries about David and the monarchy. The 1 Samuel (1-15 Saul) Quiz asks who Samuel's parents were and which tribe he came from. Weekly quizzes on the historical books cover the Deuteronomic History and the models used to understand it.

Using maps and quizzes together

  1. Read a map for the shape of a period.
  2. Take the matching quiz without looking.
  3. Return to the map for anything you missed.
  4. Use flashcards to fix names and terms.

For the Psalms there are single-psalm maps, such as Psalm 1, Psalm 2 and Psalm 104, plus decks on their literary categories. The Proverbs decks go chapter by chapter. Prophecy has maps on Amos and Micah and decks on Isaiah, Daniel and Job.

Make it your own

Teachers can pick a ready-made quiz or map for a class. Students can open a resource, test themselves, then build a deck or map of their own on the books that give them trouble.

Frequently asked questions

Which resource should I open first?

Start with one of the Old Testament mind maps to see the whole sequence from Creation to Exile. Then try the Torah Flowchart for the first books. Once the outline feels familiar, take the 1 Samuel quiz or the conquest and Judges era quiz to check what stuck.

What do the mind maps cover?

They cover the main events in order, including Creation, the Fall, the Flood, Abraham, Jacob, the Exodus, the Kings and the Exile. Others focus on single books or themes such as Judges, Ruth, Joshua, the covenants, Hosea and Amos, and several individual Psalms.

Are these resources free to use?

Yes. Every resource listed here is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. They were made by GoConqr users rather than by GoConqr itself, so it is worth comparing a few on the same topic. A free account saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own.

Who are these resources for?

They suit school students revising a topic, university students filling gaps, and teachers looking for ready-made material. Most resources are at secondary level, with a sizeable group for university. Some are lecture-style quizzes and exam-style notes, while others are simple overviews.

Is there material on the Psalms and Proverbs?

Yes. There are maps for individual Psalms, a Psalms Panorama map, notes on Psalm themes and a deck on the literary categories of the Psalms. Proverbs has many flashcard decks that go verse by verse through separate chapters.

What if I cannot find my topic?

Try a nearby resource first, such as a book map, a prophet deck or a chapter outline, since many topics overlap. If the gap remains, you can make your own quiz, mind map, flashcards or notes and use them for your own revision.
