About The Sacraments

GoConqr Original

What the unit covers

This unit brings together material on the sacraments in Christianity, mostly from a Catholic point of view. You will find resources on Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Reconciliation, Christian healing, Marriage and the process of RCIA. Others look at signs and symbols, worship and celebration, and the sacramental nature of reality.

Where to start

Begin with the basics. The quiz Baltimore Catechism: Lesson 13 Quiz asks what a sacrament is, using fill-in-the-blank prompts: an outward sign, instituted by Christ, to give grace. The mind maps What is a Sacrament? and The 7 Sacraments give you the overview in a few minutes.

  1. Read one of the seven sacraments maps to see the full list.
  2. Take the quiz on what a sacrament is.
  3. Move to a single sacrament and work through it.

Going sacrament by sacrament

For initiation, try the mind map Sacraments of Initiation, which recalls the baptism of Jesus at the River Jordan, and Infant Baptism in the Catholic Church. The Baptism quiz goes deeper, asking about writing from the second century. For Confirmation, take Baltimore Catechism Lesson 15 Quiz and the Catholic Confirmation Study Guide flashcards, which sort the sacraments into initiation, healing and vocations.

For the Eucharist, the quiz The Parts of the Holy Mass tests the order of the liturgy, and the Chapter 5 & 6 flashcards cover matter, form and minister. The Sacraments of Healing slides and the Baltimore Catechism Lesson 25 quiz cover anointing of the sick.

Using quizzes and maps together

Read a mind map first, then test yourself with a quiz on the same sacrament. Wrong answers show you what to revisit. Flashcards then help fix key terms in memory. Teachers can set a quiz after a map as a quick check in class.

Where it sits

This unit belongs to the strand Christianity: Belief, Church and Practice, within Religion and theology. Choose one sacrament today, open a quiz, and then make your own mind map or flashcards from what you learn.

Frequently asked questions

Which quiz should I start with?

Start with Baltimore Catechism: Lesson 13 Quiz, which asks what a sacrament is and how many there are. It gives you the core definition before you move to individual sacraments. After that, try the Baptism quiz or the Lesson 15 quiz on Confirmation.

What do the mind maps cover?

The mind maps cover the seven sacraments as a set and each one on its own, including Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion, Reconciliation and Marriage. There are also maps on Christian Healing, RCIA, Commitment & Membership and the sacramental nature of reality.

Are these resources free to use?

Yes. Every resource on this page is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. They were made by GoConqr users, not by GoConqr itself, so you will see different styles and levels of detail across the quizzes, maps and flashcards.

Who are these resources for?

They suit school students revising the sacraments and teachers looking for ready-made material. Most of the resources are at secondary level, and GCSE Religious Studies is among the exams mentioned in them. Some are from school term tests, so check they match your course.

Can I make my own study material?

Yes. A free account saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own quizzes, mind maps, flashcards and notes. You could build a map of the seven sacraments, or write flashcards for terms you keep missing in the quizzes.

What if I can't find the sacrament I need?

Try the broader resources first, such as the seven sacraments mind maps or the flashcards on the sacraments of initiation and healing. They often cover several sacraments at once. If something is still missing, make your own notes or flashcards to fill the gap.
