          1. Can grow plants in areas of high salt content
            1. Can make more from less land
              1. Doesn't require chemicals or pesticides for growth
                1. In areas prone to flooding E.g. Bangladesh - HP allows growth in these areas
                  1. Allows growth of foreign plants
                    1. Maximise nutrient intake for plants
                      1. No soil required - can be grown anywhere
                        1. Avoids soil-borne pests
                        2. Disadvantages
                          1. Expensive procedure
                            1. Requires constant monitoring
                              1. Needs lots of water
                                1. Uses lots of electricity/power
                                  1. Needs well educated farming community
                                    1. Requires specific skills
                                    2. Disease likely to spread much quicker if it gets in the system
