2. Advantages

   • Can speed growth
   • Can grow plants in areas of high salt content
   • Can make more from less land
   • Doesn't require chemicals or pesticides for growth
   • In areas prone to flooding E.g. Bangladesh - HP allows growth in these areas
   • Allows growth of foreign plants
   • Maximise nutrient intake for plants
   • No soil required - can be grown anywhere
   • Avoids soil-borne pests

3. Disadvantages

   • Expensive procedure
   • Requires constant monitoring
   • Needs lots of water
   • Uses lots of electricity/power
   • Needs well educated farming community
     • Requires specific skills
   • Disease likely to spread much quicker if it gets in the system
