    • In source A the writer presents young people as having a lack of manners. This is seen in the phrase 'pupils don't know how to shake hands before interviews' which implies that younger people are unable to show respect towards their future employers. Contrastingly, the writer of source B presents women as having good manners. This is seen in the phrase 'a few nuggets of behavioural wisdom from her book' which implies that they're taught how to be respectful. It also implies that having manners was important as there was an entire book on it.

    • The writer uses an anecdote to convey that young people have a lack of social skills. This is seen in the phrase 'take c as an example' which implies that the writer knows someone who has a lack of social skills. Furthermore, by using the singular letter 'c' to identify them, it suggests that this person is one of many who lacks in social skills. The writer may have done this to show how young people need to be taught how to behave socially.

    • In source A, the writer has used rhetorical questions to convey their view. This is seen in the phrase 'should it come from home?' which implies that parents should teach their children manners and not rely on schools. The writer may have done this to show how teaching manners shouldn't be left to schools. Contrastingly, in source B the writer uses imperatives to convey their view. This is seen in the phrase 'she should ask politely ask of the person whom she is visiting'. The imperative 'should' implies that it's expected of women to have appropriate manners when in public. The writer may have done this to show how well behaved people were during that time.
