inferential statistics provide a range of support for decision making

statistical significance helps you to decide whether differences you see in averages between two or more groups is real or not

data collection

data transforming/processing

data analysis/exploration

EDA: exploratory data analysis

------ Understanding visual encodings

Decomposing Visualizations:

What are the variables?

What are the visual encodings for each variable?

To what extent are the encodings effective?
