Camera techniques, movement and transitions

  1. Camera shots

    • Medium shot: shows the subjects upper body and it allows the viewer to see the background environment and the characters gestures.
    • Wide shot: shows the entire body of the subject.
    • Close up: the subjects head takes up the majority of the frame showing their reactions and emotions.
    • Extreme close-up: only one specific detail can be seen, used to add dram or focus on detail that could be missed.
  2. Camera angles

    • Over the shoulder: in depth engagement of actions.
    • Low angle: adds tension or makes the subject look superior.
    • High angle: makes the subject look inferior or smaller.
    • Aerial: creates a setting for the viewer, establishing shot.
