The metric system
In the late 1700's, the French Academy of Sciences set out to make a simple and reliable measurement system.
Over the next 200 years, the metric system was formed.
This system is now the International System of Units or SI
Because all SI units are expressed in multiples 10, changing from one unit to another is easy.
-----> Multiply by 10
KM, KL, KG - Hecta - Deca - Meter, Gram, Liter - Deci - Centi - mm, mG, mL
1000 100 10 1 10 100 1000
<------- Divide by 10

Length
A meter is the basic SI unit of length
If you were to divide 1 m into 1000 parts, each part equals=1 millimeter (mm)
So, 1 mm is one-thousandth of a meter
Page 3
Conversions
1,000 m = 1 km
1,000 km = 1,000,000 m
1,000 cm = 10 m
1,000 m = 100,000 cm
1,000 mm = 1 m
1,000 g = 1 kg
1000 kg = 1,000,000 g
1000 centigrams = 10 g
1000 grams = 100,000 centigrams
1000 mg = 1 g
5 ml = 0.005 L
10 ml = 0.001
10 L = 10,000 ml
525 L = 525,000 ml
24 cl = 0.24 L
