About Family, Home and School

GoConqr Original

What this unit covers

The unit follows three themes: family, home and school. Most of the resources are flashcard decks, so it works well as a vocabulary bank.

  • Home: the deck Rooms in the House lists rooms such as el aseo, la cocina and el comedor, with the question ¿Cuántas habitaciones tiene? The decks El dormitorio and El cuarto de bano go room by room.
  • Chores: Spanish vocab test - chores covers lavar los platos, hacer la cama, pasar la aspiradora and poner la mesa.
  • Family: My Family, La Familia and 10 family members in Spanish cover the basics. La Familia y Tradiciones goes further, with casarse, la luna de miel and la familia monoparental.
  • School: School Buildings, Spanish Subjects and Spanish Vocab - la educación run from classroom objects to ideas such as failure at school and parents' expectations.

Where to start

Begin with the simple decks: My Family, Rooms in the House and School. Once those feel familiar, move on to chores and the longer lists in La Familia y Tradiciones. The education deck is the most demanding, so leave it until later.

Using quizzes and mind maps together

Open a mind map first to see how a topic fits together. Self, Family & Relationships and School give you the overview. Spanish AQA - Marriage And Partnership is useful if you are working towards GCSE Spanish.

Then test yourself. The quiz Spanish vocabulary asks, for example, for the word for step-parent. The quiz (with word bank) FV2 MOD3 practica con: la casa y los quehaceres mixes house and chore words, and the word bank gives you a little help. Note what you miss, then go back to the matching deck.

Where it sits

This unit belongs to the Vocabulary and Topics strand of Spanish language (as a school subject). The resources were made by GoConqr users, so styles and course names vary. Choose the ones that match your own course.

Next step

Choose one deck today, run through it, then take a quiz. When you spot a gap, make a mind map or deck of your own.

Frequently asked questions

Which resource should I start with?

Start with a simple flashcard deck such as My Family, Rooms in the House or School. They cover the core words for each theme. After that, try the quiz Spanish vocabulary to check family words, then move on to the chores deck once you feel confident.

What do the mind maps cover?

There are over 10 mind maps. They include Self, Family & Relationships, School, and Spanish AQA - Marriage And Partnership. Others cover school topics, young people and the environment at home. They suit a first look at a topic or a last check before a test.

Are the resources free to use?

Yes. Every resource on this page is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. A free account also saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own quizzes, mind maps, flashcards and notes.

Which levels and exams do these suit?

Almost all of the resources are at secondary level, so they suit school students. One listed resource mentions GCSE Spanish. Teachers can use the decks and quizzes as ready-made material for vocabulary practice, homework or revision starters.

Who made these resources?

GoConqr users made them, not GoConqr itself. Over 70 contributors have added decks, quizzes, maps and notes. Because of this, titles and course references differ, so check that a resource matches your own syllabus before you rely on it.

What if the topic I need is missing?

Try a nearby resource first. Decks on rooms, chores, family, relationships and school subjects overlap a good deal. If you still can't find what you need, build your own deck or mind map with a free account and use it for revision.
