About Project Risk Management

GoConqr Original

What this unit page covers

The resources follow the usual flow of risk management: plan, identify, analyse, respond and control. The flashcard deck 11 PROJECT RISK MANAGEMENT lists those stages as numbered processes, from Plan Risk Management through to Control Risks. Other decks, such as Types of Risk Management and Role of Risk Management, look at the ideas around them.

Where to start

Begin with the mind map Risk Management. It lays out the risk management plan, identifying risks, analysing them, responses, and monitoring and control. It also touches on techniques such as brainstorming and the Delphi Method, and on impact and probability.

Then move to the detail:

  1. The maps on planning and on the level of risk acceptance, which describe how much risk a sponsor is willing to take.
  2. The maps on qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  3. The maps on responses to threats (avoid, mitigate, transfer) and to opportunities (exploit, enhance, share, accept).
  4. The maps on the risk register and on controlling risks.

Many maps come from numbered study sessions, and some are in Spanish, so you may see mixed languages.

Using quizzes and maps together

Read a map first, then test yourself. The quiz Project Mngt Chapter 7 checks ideas such as risk being highest early in the project life cycle and the difference between opportunity and risk. Modulo 11 uses a scenario about accepting risks and choosing responses. There are also chapter-based sets, Chapter 11 T/F and two multiple-choice parts, plus a PMI PMP Sample Question quiz and Final PMP TVTC Exam 2 for professional candidates.

After each quiz, go back to the map for any topic you missed, and use the flashcards for terms.

Where it fits

This unit sits in the Project Management strand of Business administration and management (incl. project management), within Business and economics. Teachers can use the maps and quizzes as ready-made material for a session.

Choose one quiz now, see what you know, and then make your own maps or flashcards from the gaps.

Frequently asked questions

Which resource should I open first?

Start with the mind map Risk Management. It gives a short overview of the whole process, from the risk management plan to monitoring and control. After that, try the quiz Project Mngt Chapter 7 to see which ideas need another look.

What do the mind maps cover?

They cover planning risk management, levels of risk acceptance, identifying risks, qualitative and quantitative analysis, responses to threats and opportunities, the risk register, risk reserve and controlling risks. Some maps are in Spanish, and many follow numbered study sessions.

Are there resources for PMP candidates?

Yes. PMP is the exam mentioned in the listed resources. The quizzes PMI PMP Sample Question and Final PMP TVTC Exam 2 are aimed at that kind of practice, and the Chapter 11 quizzes and flashcards support the same topics.

Are the resources free, and who made them?

Every resource listed here is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. They were made by GoConqr users, not by GoConqr. A free account also saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own quizzes, maps, flashcards and notes.

Which levels is this page for?

The resources are a mix of university-level and professional material, so the page suits university students and professional candidates. Teachers can also use the quizzes, maps and flashcards as ready-made material for their own sessions.

What can I use to learn the risk responses?

Two mind maps split the responses clearly: one for threats, covering avoid, mitigate and transfer, and one for opportunities, covering exploit, enhance, share and accept. The quiz Modulo 11 then asks you to apply them in a scenario.
