About Family, People and Personality

GoConqr Original

What the resources cover

This unit sits in the Topic Vocabulary strand of English language. It brings together three linked themes: family and friends, how people look, and what they are like inside. Most resources were made by GoConqr users, so styles and levels vary.

  • Family: the quiz Family members asks how to say "avô" or "pais" in English and completes sentences such as "Your uncle is your father's...".
  • Appearance: decks such as Physical appearance and Describing people cover hair colour, eye colour, build and age.
  • Personality and feelings: Personality traits, Character & Personality and the Feelings mind maps cover character and mood.

Where to start

Begin with the basics. The Family members quizzes and the My Family slide sets suit younger learners. Then move to the flashcards on describing people and physical descriptions.

If you want to talk, not just recognise words, open the deck Speaking: Family discussion questions. It asks things like who your favourite relative is and what the advantages and disadvantages of being an only child are.

Using quizzes and maps together

  1. Read a mind map such as Describing people or Appearance & character to see the words grouped.
  2. Go through a flashcard deck until the words feel familiar.
  3. Take a quiz such as Physical description test, where you match pictures to descriptions.
  4. Return to the map for anything you missed.

Words for relationships and exams

Some decks cover how people get on, with phrases like "We get on really well" and "We argue often/rarely". Others are in Spanish, such as Spanish Adjectives (Describing People), and mention GCSE Spanish. This helps if you study languages side by side and want to compare vocabulary.

Make it your own

Choose one theme today, open a quiz and see how many answers come easily. Then build your own maps and flashcards for the words that slip away.

Frequently asked questions

Which resource should I open first?

Start with the quiz Family members if you are new to the topic. It tests relatives and simple translations. Then try the Physical appearance flashcards or the Describing people mind map, and finish with a longer quiz to check how much has stuck.

What do the mind maps on this page cover?

They cover family and friends, relationships, physical appearance, personality traits, feelings and emotions. Titles such as Appearance & character, Personality Traits and Family and Friends show how words are grouped, so you can see the whole theme at once before testing yourself.

Are the resources free to use?

Yes. Every resource listed here is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. A free account also saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own quizzes, mind maps, flashcards and notes.

Who made these resources?

They were made by GoConqr users, not by GoConqr itself. That is why you will find different styles, school stages and course books side by side. Some come from classroom units, while others are personal revision sets shared with the community.

Which levels and exams do these suit?

Most resources suit school students, with a smaller share for primary pupils. A few mention exams such as GCSE Spanish, ESO and EGE. Teachers can use quizzes, slide sets and flashcards as ready-made starters for family and description lessons.

What if I cannot find the exact words I need?

Try a nearby theme. Words about people may sit under Relationships, Feelings or Character & Personality rather than Family. If a gap remains, make your own flashcards or mind map for the missing words.
