About Project Integration, Monitoring, Control and Closure

GoConqr Original

What this unit covers

The unit follows the integration processes in order: developing the project charter, developing the project management plan, directing and managing project work, monitoring and controlling it, performing integrated change control, and closing the project or phase. The notes titled 04 PROJECT INTEGRATION MANAGEMENT set out that sequence, and a matching flashcard deck with the same name turns each stage into a quick prompt.

Where to start

Begin with the notes or the Integration Management Processes slide set to see the whole sequence. Then move to the mind maps, which make up most of the page. Several cover the charter, with inputs such as the business case and agreements, tools and techniques, and outputs. Others cover the management plan, including the change management plan and the requirements management plan, and direct and manage project work, with deliverables, change requests and corrective or preventive actions.

Using maps and quizzes together

  1. Read a mind map on one process, such as 4.5 Perform Integrated Change Control.
  2. Test yourself with a quiz, for instance 4.2 Develop Project Management Plan or Chapter 4 T/F.
  3. Note what you missed and go back to the related map or flashcard deck.

For control, the quiz Project Management Final CH 11-13 asks about the three elements of control and about cybernetic control systems. The notes Basic Reqs of a Control System sit alongside it. The flowchart Project Closure Diagram helps you picture the closing steps.

Exam practice and where this fits

Some resources mention the PMP, such as the flashcard deck PMP Processes and the PmBOK6-Processes Study diagram flowchart. This unit sits in the Project Management strand of Business administration and management (incl. project management). Teachers can use the maps, decks and quizzes as ready-made material for a class.

Frequently asked questions

Which resource should I open first?

Start with the notes on project integration management or the Integration Management Processes slide set. They show the order of the processes, from the charter through to closure. After that, pick a mind map on one process and follow it with a quiz on the same topic.

What do the mind maps cover?

There are over 170 of them. They cover the project charter, the project management plan, directing and managing project work, integrated change control, the project management information system, change requests and closing a project or phase. Many break each process into inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs.

Are the resources free to use?

Yes. Every resource listed here is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. A free account also saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own quizzes, mind maps, flashcards and notes.

Which exam does this page relate to?

Resources here mention the PMP, for example the PMP Processes flashcard decks and a study diagram of the processes. The audience is university students and professional candidates, so the material suits those revising for professional project management study.

Who made these resources?

They were made by GoConqr users, not by GoConqr itself. More than 130 contributors have added quizzes, maps, decks and notes. Because they are community-made, it is worth checking them against your own course materials.

What can I use to practise control and monitoring?

Try the quiz Project Management Final CH 11-13, which asks about the three elements of control. The notes Basic Reqs of a Control System and the flashcard decks on monitoring and controlling project work give you more to review.
