About particle physics flashcards
GoConqr OriginalUsing particle physics flashcards
These decks cover definitions, particle properties and questions about interactions. Classifying particles asks about quarks and the composition of protons. AS Physics Radioactivity includes cards on alpha scattering, isotopes and nucleon numbers.
For a starting point, try AS AQA Physics Unit 2. Its cards ask you to define leptons and hadrons, then sort particles into groups. That gives you a mix of recall and classification questions to work through.
Build a revision routine
Answer each card before looking at the response, and return to the ones you find difficult. You could then try AQA AS Level Physics Unit 1, which includes a question about a strange particle and another on classifying a particle.
If you want to see how ideas connect, switch to a mind map on the Particle Physics unit page. A quiz can give you another way to check your recall. Choose a deck that fits the topic you are revising and start there.
Frequently asked questions
Which flashcard deck is a useful place to start?
AS AQA Physics Unit 2 is a useful starting point if you want to practise definitions and classification. It asks you to define a lepton and a hadron and to sort particles into groups. For a focus on quarks, Classifying particles includes questions about quark names and proton composition.
What topics do the flashcards cover?
The decks include questions on particle classification, quarks, radioactivity and particle interactions. AS Physics Radioactivity covers alpha scattering, isotopes and nucleon numbers. Other decks ask about strange particles, conservation in reactions and the properties of protons, neutrons and electrons.
Are these flashcards free to use?
Yes. Every resource listed on this page is free to open and study, without an account. The decks were made by GoConqr users. A free account also lets you save quiz scores and make your own quizzes, mind maps, flashcards and notes.
Who are these flashcards for?
The collection is mainly for school students practising particle physics and teachers looking for material to use. It also includes some resources for university students. Several decks are labelled for A-level study, so check the questions in a deck against the topic you want to revise.
