Project Schedule Management

231 resources created by 145 users

This Project Schedule Management page on GoConqr gathers community-made mind maps, flashcards, quizzes, notes and a flowchart, from planning the schedule and defining activities to estimating durations, developing the schedule and controlling it. It's built for university students and professional candidates practising the planning steps, and for teachers after ready-made material. There are over 220 resources here, including more than 190 mind maps, more than 9 quizzes and over 16 flashcard decks. Pick a mind map to start, then try a quiz to find your gaps.

About Project Schedule Management

GoConqr Original

What this unit covers

The resources follow the time management processes in order: plan schedule management, define activities, sequence activities, estimate activity resources, estimate activity durations, develop the schedule and control the schedule. Several resources mention the PMP, so they suit professional candidates as well as university students. Everything here was made by GoConqr users.

Where to start

Begin with the mind map Project Time Management. It shows all seven processes on one page, so you can see how they connect. Then open the flashcard deck on the same seven processes, which lists each one in turn and gives short definitions.

Going deeper, process by process

  1. Use the mind maps on defining and sequencing activities to check inputs such as the activity list, activity attributes and milestones list.
  2. Read the mind map on dependencies of activities. It separates mandatory from discretionary links, and internal from external ones, and explains hard and soft logic.
  3. Move to the estimation maps. SAB2#59 Estimation_Types is described on the page as covering one-point, analogous, parametric and beta distribution estimating.
  4. Look at the develop schedule maps, which note that outputs from the other time processes feed into this one. They also cover schedule compression, modelling, resource optimisation and the critical chain method.

Practice and visual examples

The Landscaping PERT chart is a worked flowchart. It runs from Start through marking utilities, digging holes and planting to Finish, with a time against each step. It is a useful model for reading a network diagram.

The flashcard deck Chapter 6 covers terms such as rolling wave planning, soft logic, total float, three-point estimate and resource-leveling heuristic. Test yourself on those, then take one of the segment quizzes on the schedule baseline or on constructing a network chart.

Using maps and quizzes together

Read a map, close it, then take a quiz on the same topic. Note the questions you miss and go back to the matching map branch. Repeat until the gaps close. When you are ready, make your own maps or flashcards for the processes you find hardest. This unit sits in the Project Management strand of Business administration and management (incl. project management).

Frequently asked questions

Which resource should I open first?

Start with the mind map Project Time Management. It sets out all seven schedule processes, from planning schedule management to controlling the schedule, so you get the whole sequence before any detail. The matching flashcard deck on the same seven processes is a good second step for quick definitions.

What do the mind maps cover?

There are more than 190 of them. They cover planning the schedule, defining and sequencing activities, estimating resources and durations, types of estimation, dependencies, leads and lags, network diagram analysis, schedule compression, developing the schedule and controlling it. Some are in Spanish.

Are the resources free to use?

Yes. Every resource on this page is free to open, study and take, with no account needed. They were made by GoConqr users, not by GoConqr itself. A free account also saves your quiz scores and lets you make your own quizzes, mind maps, flashcards and notes.

Which exams or levels do they suit?

The mix is mainly professional candidates and university students. At least one listed resource mentions the PMP. There is no school-level material on this page, so it suits people studying project scheduling at university or preparing for professional certification.

Is there a quiz on network diagrams?

Yes. The quiz titled SEGMENT 5 QUIZ: Constructing a Network Chart covers building a network chart, and the Landscaping PERT chart flowchart gives a worked example to compare against. A segment quiz on the schedule baseline follows on naturally.

What if the topic I need is missing?

Try the related mind maps and flashcard decks, since the same topic often appears under different titles. If you still cannot find it, you can make your own mind map, quiz or flashcards with a free account and keep them for revision.
